David is the only person that I know that has actually read Ulysses. When he came to Mayo recently, He wanted to hear some of it in an Irish accent, this was my first introduction to Joyce. I didn’t understand a word. He was an avid reader with a library to be admired, I’m building mine but I’ll never get to his standard or volume. He was always smiling and good natured.
